Proper Planning
Try to get ahead of the curve as much as possible. A good plan will help you stay organized, prevent last-minute panics, and help you create off-the-cuff solutions when you do run into a problem.
This includes figuring out how much food and supplies you’ll need, as well as giving you time to build a list of miscellaneous items you’ll need to pick up, from sunblock to garbage bags and more.
You’ll also want to make sure your RV is serviced ahead of time and all repairs are taken care of so you don’t get any surprise problems during the party. If you’re hosting your event away from your personal property, make sure you understand all the rules of the property you’re using and touch base with the property owner, if you can, about what they expect.
Social Media
Planning ahead also gives you a chance to advertise your party. Flyers might be good for local communities, but when you want to reach out to a broader network. Try social media. If you don’t have a social media account of your own, ask a friend if they’ll spread the word on your behalf.
The Big Game, in particular, can also be a great time to use social media, in that there will be a lot of hashtags going around and ways to communicate across the country and join a broader online community. You can even make one for your own party and provide regular updates and pictures throughout the day.
Prepping Your RV
Beyond getting it checked out by a technician, you’ll also want to make sure other aspects of your RV are ready to accommodate more people than it normally does. Fill up all propane tanks and ensure there’s plenty of water available if you’re not already hooked up to a water source. The same will need to happen with electricity. Clean it out so that it’s more welcoming for guests, and decide which parts of the camper you’ll be using for entertainment so you can plan out where to place certain food or items.
Your Food Plan
Making sure everyone is well fed and hydrated is probably going to be one of the biggest tasks. There are a few ways you can go about this to make it more manageable. If you choose to cook all the food yourself, then that plan should include buying all the supplies you need, as well as a schedule for when certain dishes need to be cooked.
If you want to relieve part of the burden, make your party a potluck. This can also be a great way to create a variety of dishes for your guests to keep them happy.
Don’t forget about drinks either. Water is a must, but juice and soda are also great choices. Coffee can be helpful for longer parties. Alcoholic beverages are a common choice, but make sure everyone still has plenty of access to water to stay hydrated and that your guests are drinking responsibly.
Remember to Have Fun!
Don’t forget this is a party! It’s about having fun! Even as you’re running around and making sure your guests are happy, take some time for yourself to relax and enjoy the company and the game. Decorate your home with team colors and remember that commercials during the Big Game aren’t a time to get up and walk around, as they’re part of the experience, too! If there are guests coming that aren’t really into sports—like younger children—leave out some other activities to keep them occupied during the long game.
